Being healthy requires more than an occasional nutritious meal and a monthly visit to the gym. Being healthy requires adopting a healthy lifestyle, and since February is Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Month, we're providing some tips to help you get healthier - and remain that way!
Here are some suggestions on what you can do:
INCREASE YOUR WATER INTAKE
It's recommended that you increase your water intake to 6 to 8 glasses each day. Limit your intake of sugary beverages and flavoured waters, as they may contribute to an excess of energy and subsequent weight gain.
EVERY STEP COUNTS!
Do some kind of physical exercise every day; being inactive increases your chances of developing non-communicable illnesses like hypertension. For example, you may increase your daily step count by planning to use the stairs instead of the elevator.
COMSUME MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Fruits and vegetables are high in dietary fibre, antioxidants, and other healthy nutrients; your diet should include more of both. Make it a goal to eat at least a few servings of fruits and vegetables every day!
GET ADEQUATE SLEEP
To reduce stress and keep your body at a healthy weight, it's important to get a decent night's sleep.
